WORLD OCEANS DAY 2022
Whether for food, energy or the production of oxygen - clean seas are more than important to us humans. That's why we're supporting our long-standing partner MBRC the ocean again this year as part of our World Ocean Day campaign. From June 08th to 09th we will donate 10% of our online shop sales to a project in Dar es Salaam - Tanzania.

donation purpose
AFRICA'S BIGGEST BEACH CLEANUP
MBRC the ocean is planning the largest beach cleanup event in Africa on June 11, 2022. A total budget of €15.000 is required for this - for rubbish bags, gloves, drinks and much more. That's why we donate 10% of our online shop sales from June 8th to 9th to MBRC the ocean.
background
WHY IN TANZANIA?
Waste management in Tanzania does not work the way we know it from Europe. Sorting options at source are limited, and waste storage, collection, transport and final disposal are often poorly managed. In the port city of Dar es Salaam alone, 4.600 tons of waste are produced every day - and only 45% of this reaches a regular disposal site. Much of the rest ends up in the sea.

Mission mbrc the ocean
CLEAN UP OUR OCEANS
MBRC the ocean cleans beaches and stretches of coast, supports the local population and raises awareness of sustainability, environmental and recycling issues.
MBRC WORK IS BASED ON THREE PILLARS

CLEANING
Through a network of over 30 MBRC cleaning hubs, the team of 1.200 dedicated employees, ambassadors and volunteers organize cleanups daily and around the world.

RECYCLING
Together with local communities, MBRC implements a waste management system and recycling plan to reduce plastic pollution in our oceans and environment.

EDUCATION
To create more awareness about waste, recycling and sustainability, MBRC has introduced an education program. They help the local population to better understand the impact of plastic waste on the ecosystem and their lives.
